Sri Lankan is one of the highest coconut-consuming nations in the world and consume around 100 fresh coconuts per head per year.  Currently Sri Lankan communities, are more concern about the quality products hence, demand is rising for quality assured products coconut products specially for coconut oil. Matured coconut is the raw material for expelling of White Coconut oil (WCO). White Coconut oil has a nice fragrance, taste, antioxidants, medium-chain fatty acids (MCFA), and vitamins, boosts the immune system and prevents premature aging. WCO does not undergo chemical refining, bleaching, or deodorizing. Hence, WCO can be consumed in its natural state without further processing.

BV Coco (Pvt) Ltd, is planning to establish a new factory at the Thimbiriwewa, Wariyapola to manufacture White Coconut Oil (WCO) & Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) targeting the local and export markets. The required technical know-how is readily available and continuous research is being conducted to find out the possible value addition for the final production.  At present, factory buildings, storage tanks, machinery, equipment, and tools for smooth operation has been established and ready to start trial production.

Initially, the factory will start its operations with 25,000 nuts per day and hope to increase up to 50000 nuts per day. The required raw coconut will be collected from surrounding coconut lands especially the north side of the coconut triangle like Kurunegala, Kuliyapitiya, Chilaw, and Puttalm areas. Primarily, white coconut oil will manufacture in the factory, and by-products of coconut flour, poonac, virgin coconut oil, coconut water, and coconut shell are also additional income expects from the site. Meanwhile, more than three hundred direct and indirect employment opportunities will be created from the proposed project contributing to the regional economic growth of that area and also in the district.
